Who we are
These Terms of Service are between you and Synect Limited, a private limited company incorporated in Ireland (CRO: 814346; VAT No: IE 4734166RH), registered at The Tara Building, 11–15 Tara Street, Dublin 2, D02 RY83, Ireland.

1. Acceptance
By using Page by Page (the “Service”), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
2. What the Service does
Page by Page helps you read physical books and documents: capture or import a page, have it read aloud, get definitions and translations, ask AI about it, and save words for review. Some features require an account and a paid plan.
3. Your account
You’re responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You can use core reading features without an account; signing in enables sync and AI features.
4. Acceptable use
- Only capture or upload content from copies you lawfully own or otherwise have the right to use — for example, a book you bought or a document you’re allowed to read.
- Use the Service for personal reading and study, not to mass-reproduce or redistribute copyrighted works.
- Don’t share, publish, or distribute scanned copyrighted content obtained through the Service.
- Don’t misuse, overload, reverse-engineer, or attempt to disrupt the Service.
- Don’t use the Service for unlawful purposes.
You are responsible for respecting the copyright of the books and files you process. Your library is private to your account — the Service is a personal study companion, not a publishing or sharing platform.
5. Copyright complaints (notice and takedown)
We respect the rights of authors and publishers. If you believe content stored through the Service infringes your copyright, notify us at hello@synect.ai with: (a) identification of the protected work, (b) enough information for us to locate the material, (c) your contact details, and (d) a good-faith statement that the use is not authorised by the rightholder, their agent, or the law.
We review valid notices promptly and remove or disable access to infringing material. We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe copyright. If we remove content you stored, we’ll tell you why and give you an opportunity to respond.
6. AI output
AI features (definitions, translations, summaries, OCR, and read-aloud) can be inaccurate or incomplete. They’re aids, not authoritative sources, and are not professional advice. Always verify anything important.
7. Plans, credits, and billing
Reading and free voices are free. AI features are metered with a monthly allowance that depends on your plan. When online checkout is enabled, paid plans renew until cancelled, and you can cancel at any time to stop future charges. Allowances reset monthly and don’t roll over unless stated otherwise.
8. Availability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, and we don’t guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Third-party AI and speech providers may affect availability.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Page by Page and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the Service.
10. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are violated, including under our repeat-infringer policy (section 5).
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. We’ll revise the “last updated” date above, and continued use after changes means you accept them.
12. AI transparency
Page by Page uses artificial intelligence to provide features including OCR scanning, word definitions, translations, AI chat, and premium read-aloud voices. You are always informed when AI is processing your content. This disclosure is made in accordance with EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) Article 50 transparency obligations.
13. EU consumer rights
If you are a consumer in the EU, you have the right to withdraw from a digital subscription within 14 days of purchase (cooling-off period), unless you have already started using the service and expressly consented to waiving this right.
To exercise your right of withdrawal, contact hello@synect.ai within 14 days of your purchase.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
15. Contact
For any questions about these Terms, contact us at hello@synect.ai, or read our Privacy Policy.
